OXFORD, MI, Dec. 2, 2024 ~ She’s been behind bars for 10 months, but now the mother of the Oxford High School shooter is asking a judge to toss her conviction for her role in the shooting.
Jennifer Crumbley is asking a judge to throw out her conviction because she claims the prosecution team deliberately withheld evidence from her defense team about secret deals it made with school witnesses who ultimately testified against her. The Detroit Free Press reported that the deals involved two school officials who had signed confidential proffer agreements that protected them from having anything they told investigators used against them.

(CONTINUED) Crumbley’s attorneys allege that former Oxford High School counselor Shawn Hopkins and former Dean of Students Nicholas Ejak made “crucial” mistakes on the day of the shooting. They’re the two school officials who signed confidential agreements. Jennifer and her husband James are both serving 10-15 years in prison after being convicted of involuntary manslaughter in connection to the Oxford High School shooting where four students were killed.
A statement from Oakland County Prosecutor Karen McDonalds office said in part: “No witnesses were given anything for their testimony, and there was no immunity – these witnesses testified without any promises or protection whatsoever. The Michigan Court of Appeals has already reviewed the legal issues raised by Jennifer Crumbley and rejected them.“
