LANSING, Jan. 8, 2025 ~ The end of 2024 saw 15 Michigan lawmakers leave office, though it did not see their required documentation on their future employment plans.
The rule stems from a ballot initiative passed in 2022 requiring outgoing lawmakers in their final year in office to publically release plans within 10 days of reaching what their future employment is going to be, said Craig Mauger of the Detroit News. He added that none of the outgoing lawmakers did this during the lame-duck session, with the law intending to prevent conflict of interest during this legislative timeframe.
