DETROIT, Jan. 12, 2025 ~ Three teams advanced to the NFL Playoff Divisional Round Sunday, as the Buffalo Bills clinched the last remaining AFC spot while the Philadelphia Eagles and the Washington Commanders took the first two NFC bids in their Wild Card victories.
In the game of the day, the Commanders defeated the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on a thrilling field goal kick from Zane Gonzalez that hit the right upright but found its way in. With the win, the No. 1 seed Detroit Lions will host the No. 6 seed Commanders this Saturday, Jan. 12 at 8 p.m.
Washington quarterback and NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year favorite Jayden Daniels led his team in passing and rushing yards, totaling 304 and two passing touchdowns. History showed to repeat itself in the end, as Washington’s last playoff win came against the Buccaneers in Tampa Bay during the 2005 season.
