MACOMB COUNTY, Jan. 14, 2025 ~ For the second time in less than three years, a Lennox Township landfill in Macomb County has been the site of a police search for a possible murder victim.

Ashley Elkins of Warren was reported missing on Jan. 3, police say she left her former boyfriend’s apartment complex before her disappearance. Soon after, law enforcement agencies began the search at the Pine Tree Acres Landfill for the 30-year-old mother of two. Nearly 50 officers from a dozen agencies are back Wednesday conducting a grid search, concentrating on six to seven acres of the landfill.

(CONTINUED) The Ohio Department of Natural Resources sent cadaver dogs and the Macomb County prosecutors sent some investigators. Elkins’s ex-boyfriend, DeAndre Booker, was previously arraigned on charges of lying to police during their investigation into her disappearance.

In 2022, Detroit police searched the same landfill looking for 17-year-old Zion Foster, who was reported missing in January of that year. Her body was never found, but evidence in the case helped police and prosecutors to a second-degree murder conviction of her cousin, Jaylin Brazier.
