Jan. 21, 2025 ~ Amid a flurry of executive orders signed by President Donald Trump on his first day, one ended former President Joe Biden‘s “electric vehicle mandate.”

An outspoken opponent of this mandate, Trump signed an order that reversed an executive order signed by Biden that aimed to make 50% of all vehicle sales electric by 2030. The order also froze about $5 billion in federal funds to create an EV charging network across the country. This order aligns with Trump’s rhetoric during his campaign, especially during his Michigan stops, which promised to stall a national shift to EVs.
