Legislature drives toward a deal to fix the roads

roads_prop 1

Some people say this has been a long bumpy ride, the stalemate is almost over as Michigan lawmakers hope to work out a road funding deal today.

State legislatures are working on a plan to generate $1.2 billion to fix the roads. House Democratic leader, Tim Grimmel, says one plan needs more investigation raising the gas tax by 5 cents which would raise $600 million dollars and at the same time cutting the budget by $600 million.

Gov. Snyder refused to say how much existing money he would find acceptable to spend on this road deal. Lawmakers will be in Lansing for three more days until the Labor Day recess.
