Driver in I-75 tanker crash has died

The driver of the tanker truck that crashed along I-75 near Outer Drive yesterday morning has died as a result of the injuries he sustained in the accident. The 53-year-old driver was an employee of the Corrigan Oil Company. The company issued a statement saying they were saddened by the death of the driver. Michigan State Police say the truck contained about 8 thousand gallons of fuel when it hit the median at around 3 a.m. Thursday morning.

The northbound lanes of I 75 remain closed as repairs are being made. Officials believe it will be several more days before the freeway opens.
