U.S. Attorney says Michigan is a drug “pipeline” to other states

Drug overdoses in the Midwest are on the rise.  In Wayne and Macomb counties, there have been 60 deaths since the beginning of the year. U.S. Attorney Barbara McQuade, of the Eastern District of Michigan, is looking to her counterparts in other states to try to tackle the issue plaguing the region. McQuade says there is a pipeline from Michigan and Ohio feeding into other states like Tennessee and Kentucky. She held a day-long summit with other U.S. Attorneys aimed at getting fresh ideas. McQuade says the abuse of drugs, like heroin, is affecting all age groups.
