Split verdict in the case of the prep school rape

A New Hampshire jury on Friday convicted 18-year-old Owen Labrie of five lesser counts in connection with the alleged rape of a 15-year-old classmate, however, they found him not guilty of three felony aggravated sexual assault charges.  He was found guilty of three charges of sexual assault as a misdemeanor, a charge of using a computer to solicit a minor to commit an offense related to sexual assault, and endangering the welfare of a child. Labrie was found not guilty of the felony rape charges in connection with the sexual assault of another student at the elite St. Paul’s School, .

In a statement, the victim’s family said: “A a measure of justice has been served for victims of sexual violence. While he was not convicted on all charges, Owen Labrie was held accountable in some way by a jury of his peers for crimes he committed against our daughter.”
