Dan Gilbert buys Detroit’s Book Tower

Dan Gilbert’s Bedrock Real Estate Group just picked up one of the largest empty buildings in downtown Detroit, the 38 story Book Tower and the 13 story book building on Washington Boulevard. Both buildings take up an entire city block. The Book Tower with its unique copper roof, built in 1926 can be seen for miles. Gilbert also bought the community center next door. In total, the acquisition 517,000 square feet.  The Book Building has been empty since 2009.
