Todd Courser resigns from State House, Cindy Gamrat expelled

Todd Courser resigned from the Michigan House early Friday morning. The resignation ended a stalemate which started around 5 p.m. on Thursday. Many Democrats would not vote and there were not enough for expulsion after the first vote. Voting had been kept open as leaders demanded a yes or no vote. Todd Courser resigned just after 3 a.m. Friday before lawmakers could make a third attempt at expelling him from office
