Another one of former Detroit mayor Kwame Kilpatrick’s inner circle is to be sentenced today. 46-year-old Jeffrey Beasley was Detroit’s former treasurer. He was convicted in Detroit Federal Court late last year of defrauding the city’s bankrupt pension funds by accepting kickbacks and bribes in exchange for approving $200 million in corrupt deals. He was one of 38 people convicted during a lengthy federal investigation of public corruption.
