Fiat Chrysler in hot water for under-reporting death and injury claims to the federal government

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration says Fiat Chrysler under-reported notices and claims of deaths, injuries and other information. The NTSA first notified the automaker of the problem in July, and after further investigation, the company found significant reporting lapses. This all comes after federal regulators hit Fiat Chrysler with a $105 million penalty this summer for recall lapses affecting more than 11 million vehicles including older jeeps with rear gas tanks.  Those have been linked to numerous fatal fires.
