Chrysler Contract In Jeopardy

The tentative four-year contract between the United Auto Workers and Chrysler is in trouble. The contract has been voted down by a majority of workers at both the Sterling Heights Assembly Plant and Toledo Assembly Complex.  UAW Local 1700 says more than 70 percent of production workers and 65 percent of skilled trades employees at Sterling Heights opposed the pact.

UAW Local 1200 in Toledo says that a majority of Toledo Assembly’s more than 5,000 production and skilled trades workers cast “no” votes. Seven large local UAW locals  have seen a majority vote against the contract. The UAW has called a meeting Thursday in Warren to talk about strategy.
