Auto Sales Head For A Record

Automakers rang up big sales increases in September.

The Detroit Three and major foreign carmakers posted double digit gains. Ford saw a 23 percent jump. It’s Lincoln brand had a 20 percent sales increase. General Motors gained 13 percent, with all four of it’s brands increasing together for the first time this year. Chrysler gained 14 percent, marking it’s 66th straight monthly sales gain. Toyota, Honda, and Nissan all had healthy increases.

Consumers were lured by Labor Day promotions and other special discounts.

TrueCar predicts that the pace will continue and break the all-time high of 17. 39 million vehicle sales, set 15 years ago.
