A special education teacher collapsed in her classroom and died later at the hospital. Louise Harris, a veteran teacher at the Kent Vocational Options worked with moderately cognitively impaired students ranging in the ages of 18 to 26. She assisted the students with employability skills and was loved in the classroom. Harris collapsed on Wednesday morning and 911 was called and CPR immediately administered. “It is with a heavy heart that I write you today to inform you about the unexpected death of our teacher, Ms. Louise Harris,” Principal Laura Ochoa wrote in a letter to parents. “Ms. Harris has been a longstanding employee with the district and served at KVO for years.” Leaders deployed their crisis response team to support the deeply sadden students and staff in the coming days.
