A man with an attempted murder charge will head to trial

A man once charged in the murder of an Eastern Michigan university football player is scheduled to go on trial today on an unrelated attempted murder charge. 22-year old Ed Thomas, went to trial in the 2013 robbery and killing of EMU’s wide receiver, Demarius Reed that ended with his acquittal. Thomas was charged in May of shooting at two men he described as following him. Prosecutors say Thomas got out of his car and fired at the men who were deemed not hurt. Thomas was charged with assault and intent to murder.
