Barra faces grilling by lawyers

General Motors CEO Mary Barra will be questioned by lawyers today in connection with the ignition switch defect.

A class-action lawsuit contends GM knew about the defect in some older model cars for years and tried to cover it up.

Barra has said she had no knowledge of the ignition switch problem before late December 2013, and learned of the decision to recall the vehicles two weeks after she was named CEO of the company. Barra had held several high ranking executive positions before she was appointed CEO.
