Detroit Public Schools: the math doesn’t add up

calculatorDetroit students continue to score the lowest among big city students in mathematics and basic reading skills. In math, 36% of Detroit Public School 8th graders achieved basic proficiency while 27% were proficient or above marks in reading. The scores increased 3% from last year but this year is the fourth year in a row Detroit’s Public Schools’ students ranked near the bottom of the class.
