Cops on the other side of the law

28-year old Charles Lynem and 31-year old Chancellor Searcy are facing multiple charges including, larceny, embezzlement and filing a false felony report. Both officers had won local and national law enforcement awards last year and were members of the Detroit police department’s tactical response unit. Police Chief James Craig stressed that the charges against the men are allegations and that both will get their day in court. At the same time, Craig said any time a Detroit police officer is accused of misconduct, it is a dark day for the department. The investigation against the men was instigated by the Wayne County Prosecutors office. Prosecutors say the two men committed the crimes together and as individuals.
