State inmates may transfer to medical facilities

Jail _key

The Michigan House passed and sent a bill to the State Senate that will allow parole for medically frail inmates. Under the measure, the State Parole Board could grant parole to inmates following a thorough medical examination, even before prisoners serve their minimum sentences. If the bill passes, inmates will transfer to an appropriate medical facility and will undergo treatment for a period congruent to their original prison release dates.
