Detected Grosse Pointe prank caller

Someone posing as a Wayne County Sheriff’s Deputy is calling unsuspecting Grosse Pointe residents, announcing a $500 warrant for their arrest, is pending because they did not show up for jury duty. The scammer says by purchasing a $500 gift card, the problem can go away. They are told to buy the gift card and give the number to the caller. The Wayne County Sheriff says, don’t call back. It’s a scam. Call the Wayne County Sheriff instead.  If you do have a summons for skipping jury duty, the notice comes in the mail, not over the phone.
