Pot capital of Michigan due for more regulation

The Detroit City Council is expected to take up a second ordinance to regulate the city’s booming medical marijuana market. The latest version of the measure would designate where these facilities can be located. They would not be permitted within one thousand feet of, among places, schools, churches, caregiver centers and liquor stores. Prior to the new limits, more than 150 unlicensed and unregulated facilities opened up across the city, making Detroit what some call the pot capitol of Michigan. While the council is expected to take up the measure today, a final vote on the issue may not come until January. The council goes on holiday recess after today and isn’t scheduled to return until January 5th
