Syrian refugees are welcomed into Detroit by Mayor Duggan

The mayors of Detroit and Austin, Texas are opening the doors to Syrian refugees despite resistance by the governors. Detroit Mayor Mike Duggan says his city can support 50 Syrian families annually for the next three years. They spoke during a White House conference call. Texas Gov. Greg Abbott has instructed organizations to stop helping Syrians. Michigan Gov. Rick Snyder, who initially lobbied for refugees, has urged a halt in the resettlement program until security concerns are addressed.
