Car fires set in Royal Oak

car fire

Royal Oak police are telling residents to be aware after what they are calling “suspicious” car fires this week. All of the fires were reported within in a four block radius, and all in the passenger compartment of the vehicle. According to police, the first fire occurred on Monday on Whitcomb Street. The second fire happened just 16 minutes later in the 1100 block of Bauman, which is less than one block away. Those locations are east of Rochester Rd. and south of 14 Mile. Both vehicles were parked on the street and both fires were extinguished quickly. The third fire was set on the 600 block of MIllard: the fire was so intense that the home next to the park car incurred damage. Royal Oak police and fire departments are working with Oakland County investigators to solve the cases. Anyone with information is asked to call the Royal Oak Police department at (248) 246-3456.
