Winter Elk hunting season is here!

Elk

The winter elk hunting season opened Saturday. WJR’s Gene Fogel reported 50 hunters were granted a license for this year’s hunt and 50 hunters were given licenses for the summer season. The 100 licenses were chosen from 36,000 applications. In the summer season hunt, 43 of the 50 hunters got an elk. The department of natural resources reported 15 bull elk and 29 antlerless elk were killed. The winter hunt will continue for nine days.
