Refugee crisis: Governor Snyder reaches out with letter to Obama administration

Michigan seal

Governor Snyder sent a letter on Tuesday to Secretary of State John Kerry and Homeland Security Secretary Jay Johnson asking the Obama administration to continue talks regarding governors’ refugee concerns. Snyder said he appreciates previous clarification from the administration regarding the refugee vetting process but bipartisan support remains at the forefront in representing Americans’ interests. The letter asks the administration to involve the 10-member Council of Governors, an advisory board that Snyder belongs to, as well as State police agencies and homeland security experts to discuss questions regarding the safety of the refugee resettlement program. The advisory council is expected to meet at the end of the month.
