FBI has Grand Rapids man is custody after 7-hour standoff

Jermaine Cooper

A 38-year-old Grand Rapids man, Jermaine Cooper, is now in custody after a 7-hour standoff with the FBI. Cooper is facing charges in connection with the shooting death of Melissa Moore. Investigators say Moore and Cooper were romantically involved when she was fatally shot on November 6th.  Executing a search warrant, the FBI surrounded a home on Dawes near I-96 and Tireman Friday morning. According to investigators, Cooper barricaded himself inside the house, refusing to come out.  This is the second standoff for Cooper. In November, police surrounded a home but discovered cooper wasn’t there after an 8-hour standoff.  Cooper is slated to be arraigned for open murder.
