The last attacker of French artist Berreni goes to trial

The only juvenile among four people charged in the murder of a 23-year-old French artist is scheduled to go on trial Tuesday. Artist Bilal Berreni came to Detroit to live but was shot to death in a 2013 during a robbery in the abandoned Brewster Projects. Of the three adults who were charged, 19-year-old Dionte Travis was convicted earlier this month and is to be sentenced on Thursday; 21-year-old Drequone Rich pled guilty in September to a second degree murder charge and was sentenced to 23-40 years in prison; and 18-year-old Jason Curtis also pled guilty last June and was sentenced to 25-40 years in prison. The last person charged was 14 years of age at the time of the shooting and he will be in court today.
