UofM Innocence Clinic requests new trial for girl killed almost 20 years ago

The University of Michigan Law School Innocence Clinic is seeking a new trial for a man convicted of killing a 12-year-old Detroit girl nearly 20 years ago. Law students and professors say they have new evidence, including the fingerprint of another man on a bloody toilet tank lid. Another witness with crucial information has also stepped forward. Lamarr Monson was convicted of second-degree murder and has been in prison since 1997. Monson confessed to stabbing Christina Brown, but the Innocence Clinic says the confession was “wildly inaccurate.” The clinic says the cause of death in 1996 was a massive head injury. The prosecutor’s office says it will respond in court.
