House easily passes spending bill, avoids government shutdown

The House voted overwhelmingly 316-113 to approve a year-end $1.1 trillion spending package that avoids a government shutdown and funds federal agencies through next fall.
The Senate plans to clear the bill later Friday before sending the package to President Barack Obama, who has indicated he will sign it into law.
The big bipartisan vote in the House is a major victory for new Speaker Paul Ryan after many conservatives agreed to back the bill saying the deal was leftover business from his predecessor Rep. John Boehner.
