New study shows coffee increases longevity

Coffee

A study led by Dr. Erikka Loftfield and conducted at the National Cancer Institute’s Division of Cancer Epidemiology and Genetics, reveals drinking coffee may lower the risk of death from heart disease, diabetes, respiratory disease, and suicide. More than 90,000 adults participated in the case study. Researchers believe the advantages from caffeine consumption attribute to decreased inflammation and insulin sensitivity. The greatest benefit, which contradicts previous claims, is consuming up to five cups of coffee a day or the equivalent of 400mg of caffeine, is not linked to long-term risks: however, the study does include a disclaimer that says, “coffee reduces mortality risk for some cancers but not others.”
