Michigan’s elk hunting season comes to an end

Elk

As Michigan’s elk hunting season ends, it was a good season for most of the hunters. Fifty hunters were granted licenses for this year’s winter hunt and 46 reported getting an elk. Hunters had to attend a mandatory program, which covered regulations, elk biology, and Michigan’s history of elk hunting prior to licensing. The hunt was open in all elk hunts within the lower northern Lower Peninsula. DNR officials say the snow makes it easier for the hunters to track the elk. With the warmer weather conditions and little to no snow, hunting was a little more difficult but the season was still a success.
