Young Dearborn boxer died in pro debut

The funeral is today for a 19-year-old boxer from Dearborn who died Tuesday night after his first professional boxing match. Hamzah Aljahmi suffered head injuries during his Saturday night fight in Youngstown, Ohio. Aljahmi was knocked down in the first round, but continued fighting. He collapsed seconds before the fourth round ended. He slipped into a coma before he reached the hospital. It is unclear if a punch in the first round led to Aljahmi’s death. He went down.  He went on to win the following two rounds. The medical examiner has not yet ruled on the cause of death.
