One person killed in shooting at Eastland Mall

Eastland Mall was put on lockdown Saturday evening as Harper Woods police responded to a shooting inside the mall. One person was killed and and a suspect was taken into custody. The lockdown has been lifted.

The Christ Child Society of Detroit provides services to children in the city of Detroit who have been victims of abuse, neglect, and trauma, with the Christ Child House serving the community for more than 100 years. Spokeswoman Laura Keziah explained Christ Child also has several other programs that serve the community such as the layette program which offers new mothers’ necessities for bringing a newborn home. In addition, there is a reading program where volunteers head to local schools to read to children and provide them with books to keep.
