Flint criminal caught because of DNA on cigarette

DNA

A Flint man learns the hard way that cigarette smoking is harmful to his health. Frederick Spearman is facing up to 20 years in prison after pleading guilty to two bank robberies. The robberies in Grand Blanc took place more than three years ago. It seems police had found a cigarette butt in a car that was later determined to be the getaway car. A DNA test proved to be a match with Spearman. After the match, it wasn’t difficult for police to find Spearman because they had his DNA on file and he was being held in Macomb Correctional Facility after his conviction on home invasion, assault, and gun charges. Spearman is scheduled for sentencing on April 11th.
