A new electric vehicle is making quite a splash at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas. Michael Toscano reports it is called the FF-Zero-One. The vehicle is a single-seat, battery-powered racecar that’s part Bat Mobile, part UFO, and with what many suggest: a bit of Porsche 919 Hybrid mixed in. It’s packed with futuristic features, although it is designed to be human operated with a self-driver still to come. Design engineer Richard Kim notes the unusual aerodynamic tunnels passing right through the car from front to back: “This yields several performance benefits, like reducing drag, battery heat, and power consumption. These aero tunnels are something engineers and design have wanted for decades.” The FF-Zero-One claims 1,000 horsepower and a top speed of about 200 miles per hour. The Chinese-backed company Faraday Future says people can expect to see the first production models rolling out in two years.
