Warren City officials say a family moved into a home over the holidays: the problem is the home isn’t theirs. Warren Mayor James Touts says the squatters: a man, a wife, and five children had no paperwork and very little furniture. The home was intended for low-income families who want to make a financial commitment, not squat. Tout told WJR’s Ken Rogulski, “There’s no such thing as free homes, there’s no such thing as a free lunch,” Tout said he wants it to be ”fundamentally clear” that not only is the city going to evict them, but if the can they will charge the family with fines or even have them put in jail.
