Supercar Destino will be built in Detroit Area

Destino from VL Automotive

Auto industry icon Robert Lutz says he plans to build what he calls a new supercar in the Detroit area. Lutz worked in hi-level jobs at Ford Motor and Chrysler, and then retired as Vice-Chairman at GM. Lutz is now the CEO of VL Automotive and his partners, Gilbert Villareal and Henrik Fisker, are building the supercar “Destino.” Fisker is known for his attempt at the Fisker electric car. The Destino will be a super-hi horsepower performance coupe, built in the Detroit area with Chevy components, and a price tag of approximately $200-thousand. Lutz told WJR that he’d be happy if they make 100,000 Destinos the first year in production, but his aspirations are global. The Destino and a smaller six-cylinder sedan will be unveiled Tuesday morning during the North American Auto Show media previews.
