Detroit Public Schools is taking its teachers to court. DPS is seeking a temporary injunction against teachers after sick outs closed more than 80 schools in the city Wednesday. It’s the latest–and largest—in a series of rolling teacher sick outs. DPS named 28 defendants including Steve Conn, the ousted leader of the teachers union, the interim union president Ivy Bailey, plus several groups including the DFT, DPS Teachers Fight Back and Detroit Strikes to Win. Teachers say they want to have their concerns taken seriously.
