Talmer Bancorp and Chemical Financial Corporation to merge

Talmer and Chemical

Troy-based Talmer Bancorp and Chemical Financial Corporation of Midland will combine and create the largest bank based in Michigan. Officials with the banks say it is a merger of equals. The combined bank will have more than $16-billion in assets and 266 locations across Michigan. Talmer is being absorbed by Chemical. The Talmer Bank branches will eventually become Chemical Banks. The move was announced on the same day that Huntington Bank moved to acquire Merit Bank.
