The Detroit Federation of Teachers announced they plan to sue the Detroit Public Schools. The DFT and it’s interim president, Ivy Baily, have filed suit against Emergency Manager Darnell Earley and the Detroit Public Schools. According to the law suit DPS “has not performed its duty to its students, parents, teachers and community to provide a minimally adequate education and to properly maintain the schools.” The suit alleges early and DPS have allowed conditions to deteriorate school conditions, forcing teachers and students to the point of crisis. Last week, early and the DPS sued the teachers for a continuing series of sick outs that have been responsible for closing schools on a rotating basis since the fall.
