Harford County Sheriff

Two veteran sheriff’s deputies are dead after a shooting in Maryland. Harford County Sheriff Jeff Gahler says one of the officers was shot by a man after responding to a Panera Bread restaurant in Abingdon shortly before noon on Wednesday. The second deputy was shot while tracking the suspect in an area near an apartment complex. Other deputies shot and killed the man. The names of the dead officers are being withheld pending notification of relatives. Police identify the dead suspect as 67-year-old David Evans, who was wanted on warrants in Maryland and Florida.
