Vice President Joe Biden to speak at Detroit NAACP dinner

DETROIT, MI — Vice President Joe Biden is scheduled to speak at the Detroit NAACP’s Fight For Freedom Fund Dinner next month. The massive fundraising dinner serves 10,000 guests every year at Cobo Center, and the White House announced Tuesday that Biden will attend the 60th annual event.

Biden has made several trips to Detroit over the last two years, including an auto show visit, an appearance at the liberal Netroots Nation conference, and most recently a Labor Day campaign stop in support of Michigan Democrats ahead of the last election. “We are extremely pleased that Vice President Joe Biden has accepted our invitation to come to the City of Detroit in celebration of the 60th Annual Fight For Freedom Fund Dinner,” said Detroit NAACP President Wendell Anthony in a statement. “As many may recall, our first speaker was the Honorable Justice Thurgood Marshall. It is historically inspiring that 60 years later a tradition of excellence and outstanding achievement in the cause of freedom and justice will be continued by our Vice President.”
