The Detroit City Council voted unanimously to approve the rezoning plan for the new Red Wings arena. In addition to the $450 million arena, Olympia also plans to create a new district that includes residential, retail and office space. The plan calls for the 90-year-old Park Avenue Hotel to be demolished and the former Eddystone converted into apartments.
