Ford recalls 591,000 vehicles in North America

DETROIT, MI – Ford Motor Co. announced Wednesday it is recalling nearly 600,000 newer vehicles in North America because of issues ranging from parking lights that are too bright to potentially faulty steering gear bolts that span more than half a million cars.

Here’s a breakdown of the latest recalls:

Lincoln MKZ cars

Recall: The company is recalling 22,616 2015 Lincoln MKZ cars because when the headlamps are on, the parking lamps are brighter than regulations allow, and it may hinder the vision of other motorists on the road. Dealers will update the part that controls the brightness of the light, at no charge to customers.

Injuries or accidents from the faulty part? None that Ford is aware of.

Where were the vehicles built? They were built at Ford’s Hermosillo Assembly Plant from Feb, 17, 2014 to March 19, 2015.

Ford Fusion, Lincoln MKZ and certain Ford Edge vehicles

Recall: Ford is recalling 518,313 2013-15 Ford Fusion, Lincoln MKZ and certain 2015 Ford Edge vehicles for an issue with the steering gear motor attachment. In states where corrosion occurs, such as Michigan, the steering gear motor bolts could fracture, and if they do, the vehicle will be more difficult to steer, especially at low speeds. Dealers will replace the steering gear motor attachment bolts with new bolts, seal them, and replace damaged steering gears for free.

Injuries or accidents? None that Ford is aware of.
