Plan for Water Taxis on the Detroit River

If one local group has its way, we’ll all soon be tooling along the Detroit River in water taxis and trolleys. It’s an idea that’s being put forward by the Detroit Riverfront Conservancy. The entire plan would cost just over 4 million dollars.

William Smith, Conservancy C.F.O says the project’s being shopped around to interested stakeholders. Based on the research, the conservancy has pitched a plan to its board for six water taxi stations and 14 trolley stops from West Riverfront Park to Gabriel Richard Park, with stops on Belle Isle.
