GM to invest a billion dollars in Warren Tech Center, add thousands of jobs

General Motors says will invest $1 billion in its Warren Tech Center and add about 2,600 jobs over the next four years. The new jobs will be in vehicle engineering, information technology and design.The project will include new design studios, A parking deck for design staff and renovation of existing research and development offices. There also will be a new multi-story IT building .

Mayor Jim Fouts says the tax base will be expanded, despite tax breaks given to G.M. It may help Warren in a plan to develop a downtown area.
